Doncaster Racecourse (also known as the Town Moor course) is a racecourse in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, England. It hosts two of Great Britain’s 31 Group 1 flat races, the St Leger Stakes and the Racing Post Trophy.

Doncaster is one of the oldest (and in terms of physical capacity – largest) established centers for horse racing in Britain, with records of regular race meetings going back to the 16th century.

Doncaster is a left-handed, pear-shaped track of around 1 mile 7½ furlongs which is mostly flat. There are courses for Flat racing and National Hunt racing. The racecourse is easily accessible by road, railway and air.

Entrance for ticket holders in the possession of a hospitality ticket / package is done via the regular entrance to the racecourse. Here you will find the ticket booth as well as a huge conference center style meeting room where some vendors display their memorabilia. Not really an entrance suitable for hospitality packages but it does add to the informal atmosphere.

Food includes a three course chef’s buffet with live cooking. What could be better is the fact that, despite asking beforehand, there is little to no vegetarian selection. Everything else is good value for money with a great selection of meat and fish. Table service drinks are taken care of by dedicated waiting staff and the restaurant has its own private cash bar.

The Mallard Restaurant is centrally located in the Main Stand (Lazarus Stand) which is easily accessible via a couple of escalators and is in the same building as where you will enter the racecourse. It has some very good views over the racecourse and is almost positioned right next to the finish line. The restaurant is separated in two areas of which one is the more informal one where people can have a drink and relax at various chairs and the other one which is the restaurant part where people enjoy their meal. The Mallard Restaurant package comes with private tables and has an excellent outdoor viewing terrace.

The seating arrangement is spot on as it is right outside the restaurant at your own outdoor viewing terrace. Bear in mind that there are no padded seats. The views over the racecourse are unobstructed and one could easily say that these seats are the best in the house.

Take the opportunity to ask for a racecourse tour that includes a meet and greet with one of the jockeys. Also, as Doncaster is a lively and pub filled city, take the opportunity to be wowed and amazed what happens at night in Doncaster city centre!
